"Aragorn"
Viggo Mortensen life size portrait sculpture bust as Aragorn from Lord of the Rings.
After deciding on the look and expression for this new version, I went about collecting photographic reference of him from various angles to enable me to sculpt the head in water based clay.
Over the next three weeks the clay sculpture was finished, and moulded in fibreglass. A translucent silicone copy was produced and painted in thin layers to obtain a skin like look. Individual hairs were then implanted for his scalp, eyebrows, lashes and beard. Lastly, acrylic eyes were custom made and inserted for the “intense” look I had envisioned.
